Upgrading laptop processor M1330

Finally received my T7500 from ebay and already installed it into M1330. Laptop is running like a dream! 2.2 core 2 duo processor (which switches to 1ghz when on battery saver mode). I am totally beaming. I'll do a game review on Mario Kart for the Wii. It's quite awesome.

Summer Vacation!! Well, not really..

Ah, finally summer's here. Which doesn't mean a whole lot, since I work MWF and work in the lab TTh. But you know, good thing about lab on T Th is that I roll in around 10ish. Bad thing is that I'm working for free essential. Good thing is that it's fun and I don't notice time fly by. I even skipped a few meals here. I actually have a reminder on the iphone to tell me when to eat.

I've never ever taken classes at SFSU during the summer, so i don't know how the summers are like on campus. Parking is WAY better. Lines for food are shorter, weather is warmer, etc. I do hope it gets unbarely warm so that i can roll into lab in flip flops and sunglasses. There's actually a Bridges program that's underway which I'd like to be a part of if I can but I'm already strapped for time already. I'd like to mentor some high school students. My mom teaches clinical nursing at USF, which I'm not sure she has to do for her doctorate, so I'd like to do that someday. I think it would be awesome to teach neurobiology at the community college.

Let's hope it gets warm this summer...

Ebay bid sniping, building an awesome portable gaming laptop..

So I'm excited. Literally excited. I just saved over $100 on ebay, bid sniping.. When I bought my laptop, it ran a bit slower than my laptop and I wanted to get a new processor (one of the many reasons why i got this laptop, modability). Anyhoo, I've been sorta collecting parts (new and refurbished). For example, I just bought a new red back cover ($20) to replace (which might be really hard and I'm not sure if I'd want to do it. I also got a new palmrest with fingerprint reader ($15 ). The best thing i got was the 2.2 ghz core 2 duo processor which sells for 250 on newegg ( a site for the best prices on computer parts) for $153, it was listed at 150 and at around 22 seconds left, i placed a bid for $160 and got it at $153.... maybe later along in the future, i'll invest in a larger hard drive... but that won't be for a while. Pretty much all of these items are funded through my birthday money... I was able to sell my older processor, old ram, and other stuff through craigslist.

Also I am selling my sony vaio laptop t150 on craigslist, so hopefully that should garner me a couple of hundreds of dollars...

Gary would be pleased to know that once i get my larger hard, i'll probably dual boot Mac OS X Leopard...

Goodbye Sony Vaio VGN-FS690, Hello XPS Dell M1330 gaming laptop

In other news, I sold my sony vaio laptop for $400 to a french woman and her son. I'm going to miss that thing. I still have my other sony vaio laptop which i use frequently for classes. It's a great machine to take notes, but I keep finding that I need something with more power to keep up with me and my desktop.... I decided to buy a sort of gaming laptop, a dell xps m1330. Beautiful machine! Weights around 4lbs with the battery, core 2 duo processor and a gaming video card nvidia 8400M GS! That means WOW and Team Fortress 2 portability. It has a pretty decent battery life of about 3.5 hours. 2 hours if you're watching a DVD. The extended can apparently give you 7 hours . It also have a webcam and microphone, so when my bro goes to Drexel, we can keep in contact. As well as my mom who has one on her laptop.

What I also like the most is that if later, I can upgrade the memory, the hard drive, the processor even! It's completely super easy even a caveman could do it. No longer will I have to pry open an entire laptop to get to the components. There's a manual which tells you how to replace almost every single component in the laptop. It's also crazy thin! You can bet that I'll be scouring for upgradeable items online... Who knew that something my brother wanted to get , I ended up trading a sony vaio for...

Roth's Indie Fashion

I tend to look for nice finds of clothes at H&M, Zara, Banana Republic, etc, because I don't want to look like everyone else. I used to cringe, when I'm standing next to someone wearing the same sweater.. How can I avoid this? How can I avoid looking soo preppy? So I turn to the internet.

Here's some stuff I've ordered that are pretty rare or usually hard to find.

So the hoodie has a v-neck and is imported from Japan. About $50 (pricey i know). A price i pay for having something relatively rare in the states. The sweaters are a $20 a piece though, and are nice. And i rest easy knowing that I have something pretty original and pretty styling...

This is what I'm hoping to get in about a week too. Kinda pricey being $75 and all.. Urk

I'll post photos of how they look...
